so what do you call evenings?
it's 6pm my time and no connect

I bring up the Host around 7pm GMT
usually and it runs till the early
hours, usally around 6am. With North
America east coast being 5 hours behindthat'd be from about 2pm-1am so stil counts as evening for those in the
    East. Westerly places I suppose
couldn't describe it as an evenings
only BBS, more of late morning-
afternoon, sorta thing. Would welcome avisit from you , sincerely Brian

Curious, what would make you do such a schedule, in this internet-age?
That used to be done so as to not tie up the phone lines, but... you
don't have internet access 24 hours a day?

He said in his ad it's a Videotex system, which is vintage. If it's the same kind of Videotex I know, then it's basically the same thing as a Tandy/RadioShack Color Computer, but without the cartridge port on the side.

I could definitely understand not wanting to run something that old 24/7.

... When all else fails, read the instructions

Ahhh, I must have missed that part.

I suppose so, but sometimes a cycling on/off, with associated
temperature changes, is worse for electronics than being in a steady ON
    state, where temperatures are stable.

An Acorm Master 128 is an 8bit machine, which has one serial input, therefore only one caller at a time. My machine is now 40 years old so a 24/7 operation is not a good idea for a machine thats so old. The board is very, very retro

and a reflection of what Viewdta boards were like in the 1980's UK. So a limited schedule is appropriate and consistemt with how things were back then. Viewdata is now available with SyncTerm. You can access a new versio here https://sourceforge.net/projects/syncterm/

    Thanks Brian ..
